Reimbursement

Medicare Designated Provider-Based Clinics and Departments

Webinar

The Medicare provider-based service designation allows hospitals and critical access hospitals to obtain provider-based designations for physician practices, certified rural health clinics, cancer centers, behavioral health centers and other outpatient service lines. Higher Medicare program reimbursements for services are rendered to Medicare patients; and in some cases, Medicaid reimbursements are obtained with the provider-based designation from the Medicare program. In addition, the provider-based designation allows services, such as physician practices and cancer centers, to participate in the 340B Drug Pricing Program. Subsequent cost savings for pharmaceutical purchases are significant and a robust 340B contract pharmacy program provides additional revenue streams.

Medicare regulations on operations and billing are complex and challenging to implement due to the requirements spanning multiple departments, operating policies and procedures. This course will offer existing provider-based regulatory requirements, operational issues, and reimbursement benefits.
