With more than 25 years in health care operations and finance, Herb’s professional experience began as a Manager and Staff Accountant, CPA at one of the nation’s largest Public Accounting Firms in the 1980s and early 1990s serving a wide array of clients including hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, health departments and physician practices.

From there, Herb entered the private healthcare sector serving as a CFO and LTC Administrator at a rural hospital and long-term care facility in his home state of Illinois, helping to keep the small community hospital financially viable and an integral part of the community it served.

Next, Herb served as a CFO in a larger hospital and long-term skilled unit facility in Kentucky, where he provided the financial leadership and talent to refinance debt, manage costs and grow revenues, enabling the Organization to become more operationally and financially stable.

Herb’s present role is to provide managerial support and financial expertise to the CEOs, CFOs and the Community Board members he serves. He is often credited with being able to convey complex, sophisticated issues in a way that lay persons can better understand, and therefore, make more informed decisions to help their hospitals be more successful.
